Former San Pedro Suburb

Almadrava Street

The slightly sinuous Almadrava alley is the last remain of the lower part of what was one of the most populated suburbs outside the villa walls: Mar Suburb or San Pedro Suburb, an important demographic area of Altea form the 18th century. It was located on the oriental side of the layout and during the latest years of the 19th century opened in order to build the new road which would replace the ancient Alicante path. Regarding the suburb, there is still a great part of its layout on the occidental area of the road, ascending through the hill slopes.
