Altea has taken a significant step towards universal accessibility with the implementation of NaviLens codes in various tourist hotspots and key areas of the city. This innovative color-coded technology, designed specifically for the visually impaired, allows for easier and more autonomous orientation in public spaces..
The NaviLens codes, recognisable by their striking blue, yellow and pink labels on a black background, have been strategically installed along the routes that run through the Bastion and the Renaissance Enclosure, as well as other relevant areas of the municipality.
These codes can be detected from several meters away without the need to focus directly on the camera of the mobile device, which makes them especially useful for people with visual difficulties.
To use this system, visitors only need to download the NaviLens app on their mobile phones. When moving the device around the environment, the app emits a 'click' sound when it detects a code, automatically initiating a voiceover with detailed information about the location, nearby services and directions to move around.
In Altea, the NaviLens codes complement other accessibility initiatives, such as the tourist information in Braille available on the lecterns on the waterfront and the writing of urban routes in easy reading.
These measures reflect the municipality's commitment to inclusive tourism, ensuring that all visitors, regardless of their visual abilities, can fully enjoy the city's attractions.
The implementation of the NaviLens codes in Altea not only improves the experience of visually impaired visitors, but also positions the municipality as an innovative tourist destination committed to universal accessibility.
