Coastal front

Altea is proud to present its waterfront, a space that combines beauty, functionality and accessibility for all visitors. This project, completed in December 2022, has transformed the coastal façade of the town centre, creating a promenade that extends from Plaza de Europa to the mouth of the Algar River.

The remodelling of the promenade has not only improved the aesthetics of the area, but has also prioritised universal accessibility. The entire urban coastline of the municipality is now accessible, including the beaches corresponding to that area. This initiative is part of Altea's commitment to inclusive tourism, reflected in its certification as a Smart Tourist Destination (DTI) under the UNE 178501 standard.

 

 

Among the improvements are:

  • Sidewalk Widening

  • Pavement renovation

  • Installation of new children's play areas

  • Improved lighting

  • Pedestrian tourist signage with Navilens codes and information in Braille

This effort for accessibility and sustainability has been recognised with the prestigious SEMcv award, highlighting Altea as an example of a tourist destination committed to inclusion and the modernisation of its resources.
